Why don't the Remote control buttons always work?
DVDs can be authored to ignore any command, which can prevent you from performing an action. For example, often during the FBI warning or within an animated menu, all commands from the remote will be ignored by the DVD.

Why can't I always jump directly to a scene using the Playlist tab?
Using the Playlist tab to jump directly to a scene is designed for use after the main feature of the disc is already playing. To begin playing the main feature:

  • Let the disc play through its startup sequence, or try the Menu button on the Remote tab. Many discs allow you to jump directly to the main menu this way.
  • After arriving on the main menu, use the compass controls on the Remote tab to navigate the DVD menus and start the primary content (usually labeled "Play Movie" or "Play" or similar).
  • On some discs, even after selecting "Play Movie" or similar, you then need to choose which version of the feature to play, watch more trailers or warnings and so forth. You may still be locked out from jumping directly to a scene during these moments. (TIP: you can often quickly determine if you are watching the main feature by looking at the running time, to the right of timeline slider on the Remote tab. If it's only a few seconds or minutes, then you're probably not watching the main feature yet.)

(Mac) When trying to run the Metamenu Service I get an error that reads, ""No Translation." Why?
Don't launch the Apple DVD Player. Put the DVD in and quit the Apple DVD Player (if it launches), then launch the Service. The Apple DVD player needs to be installed on your system, but not running while the service controls it.

(Mac) When trying to run the Metamenu Service I get an error that reads, "You can't open the application "Metamenu Service" because it is not supported on this architecture." Why?
You cannot run Metamenu Service on PowerPC processor. Metamenu Service runs only on Intel-based Macs.
